Capstone

Finish with something that shows what you learned.

During the final portion of the internship, Olivia will complete a supervised capstone based on a selected EMC project or teaching project.

The capstone may combine editorial review, style-sheet development, audience analysis, promotional copy, campaign concepts, and production or media-extension planning.

The purpose is to demonstrate learning rather than fulfill a critical EMC production requirement.

Where appropriate and approved by EMC, selected non-confidential portions may be cleared for use in an academic or professional portfolio.

Supervision & Feedback

Olivia will receive regular supervision throughout the internship.

  • Initial orientation
  • Clearly explained assignments
  • Regular access to a supervisor for questions
  • Approximately one structured check-in each week
  • Ongoing editorial and professional feedback
  • Midpoint review
  • Final evaluation

Additional mentoring and creative discussions may be provided by EMC leadership or personnel with relevant experience.

Academic Schedule & Credit

The internship is intended to complement, not interfere with, Olivia’s university responsibilities.

Academic obligations, examinations, and major coursework take priority over internship scheduling.

If Olivia wishes to seek academic credit through the University of North Texas, EMC is willing to review applicable requirements and cooperate with an academic advisor or internship coordinator where reasonably possible.

Workload & Scheduling

The proposed commitment is approximately 6–8 hours per week.

Because the internship is remote, the exact distribution of those hours may vary according to Olivia’s academic schedule and EMC training or project availability.

Based on the availability previously provided, assignments and meetings can generally be scheduled around Monday–Thursday evening availability and broader Friday–Sunday availability.

The program is based on progress and educational participation rather than rigid time-clock attendance.

Access & Confidentiality

Olivia will receive access only to EMC materials and systems necessary for approved internship assignments.

Potential access may include selected:

  • publishing materials;
  • manuscripts;
  • editorial documents;
  • marketing assets;
  • research;
  • production briefs;
  • project-specific files.

Banking, payment systems, tax records, contracts repositories, personnel records, administrative passwords, master hosting, domain systems, confidential legal material, and other restricted corporate information are outside the internship.

The internship remains within EMC’s mainstream publishing, media, communications, and production operations. Adult-content businesses and related creator/customer operations are not part of the proposed internship.

Portfolio & Professional Development

EMC may approve selected completed work for inclusion in Olivia’s academic or professional portfolio when confidentiality, copyright, client, publication, and business considerations permit.

Successful completion may also include:

  • a final written evaluation;
  • verification of internship participation;
  • cooperation with academic-credit requirements where applicable;
  • a completion letter;
  • a professional reference when appropriate.

Compensation & Employment Status

The proposed Fall 2026 internship is intended as a structured educational internship.

The internship is unpaid.

There is no promise or guarantee of paid employment with Empire Media Company or any affiliated company following completion.

Participation is intended primarily to provide education, supervised practical experience, mentoring, and professional development.

Proposed Next Step

Review. Ask questions. Shape the experience.

If this proposed structure is of interest, Olivia and Empire Media Company can confirm the internship term, schedule, academic-credit needs if any, and final learning priorities before completing the formal internship agreement and onboarding process.
